Guest List: Tove Lo with Keto Golden Latte

Turmeric seems to be the new pumpkin spice, so I should give it a try before it’s thrown into the “basic” bin. This bright yellow spice has taken over everything, including Starbucks and Peet’s Coffee. However, being on a Keto or LCHF diet limits consumption of coffeehouse concoctions that include honey and fake milks, so here’s a healthier twist — that’s also cheaper and lazier. Meanwhile, Tove Lo spices things up with collaborations on Flume‘s “Say It,” Coldplay‘s “Fun,” Broods‘ “Freak of Nature,” and more. PS: My mornings are pretty much ruled by Lavazza® Gran Selezione Dark Roast, the classic Bialetti Moka Express Espresso Maker, and the Aerolatte Original HandHeld Milk Frother. Basic? I think not.

 

Keto Golden Caffé Latte

Ingredients
Double shot espresso (or more, bzzzz)
1/4 c heavy cream, heated
3/4 tsp turmeric
1/8 tsp ginger
1/8 tsp cinnamon, plus more to top
3-4 drops vanilla extract

  1. Heat your cream (30 seconds in the microwave if you’re lazy), then add all ingredients EXCEPT espresso. Froth for about 1 minute (cream should at least double).
  2. Add espresso. Sprinkle with cinnamon. If you’re missing the coffeehouse experience, try Latte Art Stencils for a professional look.

 

Golden Bulletproof Coffee

Ingredients
6oz coffee or espresso
1 tbsp Kerrygold butter, unsalted
1 tbsp coconut oil
3/4 tsp turmeric
1/8 tsp ginger
1/8 tsp cinnamon, plus more to top
3 drops vanilla extract

  1. Blend everything well (when mixed correctly, your butter and oil should not look buttery or oily). If you don’t own a frother, I would suggest a bullet blender, a single-serve drink blender, or a wire whisk and some elbow grease — which is typically easier after you’ve had your coffee.
